There are a number of reasons that an individual or couple may be experiencing infertility (including medical reasons and life circumstances). Approximately 1 in 6 couples are impacted by infertility, yet many clients describe feeling very isolated and misunderstood in their journeys.
I work with a range of diverse clients who require fertility support for reasons including: infertility due to medical conditions, male infertility, unexplained infertility, secondary infertility, post cancer treatment, same-sex couples, single women, to avoid passing on genetic disorders.
Therapy provides you with a safe space to discuss your experience and receive support managing the complex emotions that are often experienced as part of this journey. Fertility challenges can create significant stress for an individual, place strain on relationships and feel very disruptive to day to day life. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk through your decisions about next steps (such as commencing IVF treatment, making changes to treatment protocols, stopping treatment).
Unfortunately there are no guarantees with fertility treatment and I support clients when their journey is ending without the child(ren) they had hoped for. I’m here to support with the significant grief and loss that comes with this ending and gently will support you to readjust life plans and navigate new goals.
